League Rules
This page shows the rules that are currently in place for the Really Mean Football League. If any changes are ammended they will be placed here in this section.

Roster size for each team will be 20 man rosters. Each team will be allowed to have 10 emergency squad members but they can only be used for emergency purposes incase of injuries.

The Football field will be a Canadian sized Football field

Field Goals will be live but if the ball crosses the endzone then it will not be returnable.

4 Downs and 10 yards to get a first down

Play clock is 40 seconds long (This might change)

2 point conversions are allowed

scoring system will be similar to NFL rules Field goals 3 points, Touchdown 6 points, PAT 1 point, and a safety is 2 points.

Overtime will be be 10 minutes long No sudden Death

3 time outs per half

The League will go with a 16 game schedule.

Playoff system will be 6 teams for each conference. The Top 2 teams for each conference will have a bye week on the first week of the playoffs (new for Season 4)

Penalties will be similar to the NFL but a little loose

No instant Replay

No GM Managers and no salary cap so Coaches will have full control of Personel so no excuses are made during post game press conferences

The Championship game is called the Punch Bowl.

because of the 20 man roster limit that was implemented, Wide Receivers can play as Defensive Backs and Vice Versa.

Only one player is allowed to blitz
Penalties
Penalties in this league are pretty basic ones Facemask, holding, encroachment, false start etc.
The difference is that Aggressive behavior, hits leading with the helmet, and launching yourself to look like a big fat missile are not considered penalties they are encouraged.
Other Penalties

Any Defender caught having sex with the quarterback after tackling his ass to the ground will be penalized for five yards.

pissing your pants will result in a 5 yard penalty as well

If a player does not flirt with a cheerleader or a camera man or any other human or creature after knocking there ass down on the sidelines that player will be penalized 10 yards and may be forced to leave the stadium

If a player does a cheesy touchdown celebration he or she will be penalized anywhere from 10 to 30 yards depending on how bad the celebration was. If a player refuses to dance his ass off then he will be forced to have sex with the team mascot. If a mascot is not present then he will be forced to have sex with a fat lady from the stands.
The First ammendment to the league rules was added just before the first season started. The play clock was set to 40 seconds to keep the scoring down a tad. Alot of people thought the scoring was too high and this seemed to have helped.
To help open up the running game a little more the league allowed 4 Wide Receiver formations
The league allowed blitzing during pre season but that changed, only 1 player is allowed to blitz because it gave teams virtually no chance to complete a pass and even short passes we're rarely completed it even gave the weakest of defenses an easy time sacking the Quarterback. Despite this Blitzing can still be a good defensive tactic and still makes it dificult for an offense to adjust because they won't know where it's coming from so long as teams keep rotating there blitzing players.
Season 4
A 12 team playoff system has been put in place of the 4 team place because the league has expanded to 32 teams.
