Final Standings
Opening Day Week 1
Well The Armageddon have got it going on the defensive side of the ball but have stumbled on the offensive side. Even tho Welp is still on the Team they went with someone fresh to take over the starting position. His name escapes me right now. Johnstown Flood looked like they imporved alot on Defense as well as they held the Armageddon to 26 points but they still lost 26-15. Armageddon fans are starting to panic. The Whalers picked up where they left off and demolished the Powerhouse 86-54. The Powerhouse scored first to make it 7-0 but the Whalers quickly responded with 21 quick points. The Texas Copperheads barely get by the Chattanooga Express with an impressive win in a game they we're supposed to lose. The Express we're supposed to be a stronger team this season but have alot of questions to answer while Texas came out fighting from the get go. Texas has alot of potential but still need to address some issues as well. I am now using Maximum Football version 2.0 but will not display any stats or screenshots until it is released to the public. Still on Week 1 and currently watching the game between the Cardinals and the Fort Worth Stampede and it's a bit of a shocker. The Cardinals we're leading this game 28-3 and the Stampede have closed the gap to 4 points. The score is now 35-31 with 4:50 left in the 3rd Quarter and the Cardinals just turned the ball over ouch. The Cardinals struggled last season and replaced QB Dauterman in hopes to bring a spark back to the offense. The Stampede actually got the lead but in the end they still lost 49-45. Alot of high scores this season Mexico City beat the Providence Patriots 70-55 and the Steelers beat Pirates 50-46. The Long Beach Storm beat Birmingham 51-45 and the Brandon Bandits beat up on Boston who keeps falling off there rocker. Week 2
The Armageddon barely get by the Powerhouse who played great last week but fell short the defending Champs laid it on thick. This week they actually had a 21-7 lead on the Armageddon after the first quarter but they failed to keep the lead with 2 crucial turnovers that lead to points just before the half. Despite this the Powerhouse led for 3 1/2 quarters. The Armageddon got the lead but then lost it and regained it again for good. Final score 49-38 as the Armageddon goes to 2-0. The Long Beach Storm are a suprising 2-0 after Week 2 and so are the Steelers as both teams pick up wins.
The Atlantic City Gamblers look like the best team so far they only allowed 39 points so far this season. They have allowed the fewest points and so far have the most points scored also as they blanked out a very powerfull Waco team 62-0. It was the worst beating administered by an NAFL team in the modern era. This season definitely has a different feel to it than last year so far. The Armageddon and Steelers are both 2-0 but both teams struggled on the defensive side of the ball and had to struggle to get there wins. Long Beach is 2-0 and the New orleans Pirates are 0-2. Week 3
The game that is currently underway at this time is Mississippi Cottonmouths vs the Long Beach Storm and Mississippi just tied it with a touchdown halfway thru the 2nd Quarter and so now it's tied at 17 a piece. The Pennsylvannia Powerhouse lost to the Chattanooga Express and even tho Pennsylvannia is 0-3 they are still a much improved team on both sides of the ball. The Armageddon are a perfect 3-0 but it's obvviously clear that the defense is weak this year. Mexico City is looking good as they beat the Stampede 51-48. The Stampede we're trailing for the entire game but almost came back to win it. Halfway thru Week 3 and still it's a little cloudy and hard to figure out who the top team is. Very little defense so far this season and some of last season's great teams are struggling out of the gates. After week 3 The Atlantic City Gamblers have allowed the least amount of points which is 80 points. Only one other team has allowed less than 100 points after week 3. Also noted Florida Records the first game over 100 points which has not happened for quite a while now in this league. The Defending champs are looking very good these The Alpha Blue Division
Right now it's looking like the Alpha Blue Division is the toughest division so far. The Long Beach Storm, LA Armageddon, and Saskatchewan Steelers are all 3-0 and the Seattle Seadogs are 2-1 so that whole Divsion has only lost 1 game. Long Beach is probably the biggest surprise of all who currently are up on Alaska 37-17 with 3 minutes remaining and they will go 4-0 for the season. It's very early in Week 4 but it's hard to determine who's gonna take this division. Despite this uprising many skeptics feel it's gonna come down to The Steelers and The Armageddon yet again in the Blue Division. Florida is the heavy favorite to win it all this year and New Orleans is struggling. Standings thru Week 12 As you can see The Whalers are the only undefeated team in the league and they are expected to run the table. Unlike the Outlaws they seem to have a tougher schedule and they probably won't choke because they are just simply unstoppable and they took down the 2 other best teams in the country. The Armageddon and the Steelers, the Storm continues to amaze us and The Outlaws look great at times but it's uncertain if they can make the playoffs.
Week 14 The Whalers almost lost to the Stampede in Fort Worth but the Whalers won with a last minute Touchdown and the final score was 59-55. The Armageddon and Storm both drop another game but The Steelers continue to win. The Outlaws continue there Roller Coaster ride but atleast they now have the lead in there Division. Final stretch The Whalers became the 2nd team to go undefeated in league history and are heavy favorites to take it all. The Armageddon lost in Week 16 to there rivals the Long Beach Storm for the first time in a while. It was a good game and The Armageddon almost made a comeback but fell short it looks like the rivalry is back and both these teams we're playing for the final playoff spot. The Steelers lost 2 games one against Florida and the Other was a humaliating loss to Boston Sharks who we're a streaky team. Every team in the Alpha Blue Division had winning records which means which made them the toughest division in the league and of all time. The Alpha Division looked like the stronger Conference this season. Post Season First Round Predictions The Florida Whalers and Saskachewan Steelers will meet in the Alpha Conference championship. Alpha Conference The undefeated Florida Whalers nearly lost to a team that barely made the playoffs. The Baltimore Girffins actually jumped out to 35 to 7 lead and narrowed the gap to 35-17. At halftime the Whalers we're only trailing by 42-38. The Whalers took the lead in the 3rd Quarter by 2 scores but the Griffins got the lead back only to lose it again with just over 2 minutes remaining. The Storm upset the Steelers 35- 37 they had a comfortable lead thru out the first half but the steelers kept coming within 1 score even tho it looked like the Storm was starting to pull away. The Storm led for the entire game.
Omega Conference The Gamblers destroyed the Outlaws and early on the Outlaws actually had the lead but they failed to hold on to that lead. The Stampede had the lead for the entire game but the game did get a little exciting in the 4th Quarter as the Copperheads outscored the Stampede 28-14 but it wasn't enough as The Stampede held on to win and advance.
2nd Round predictions The Florida Whalers will beat the Long Beach Storm soundly even tho they almost lost to a mediocre Baltimore Griffins squad. The strong Atlantic City Gamblers Defense will win it for the Stampede. Alpha Conference The Storm jumped out ahead to a 24-14 lead. The Whalers took the lead briefly but Long Beach Stormed back and took a 55-49 lead halfway thru the 3rd Quarter. But the Whalers would get no closer and Long Beach had a 30 point lead. Florida was the 2nd team to go undefeated for the entire season and then lose in the playoffs. The only other team to go undefeated we're the Mexico City Outlaws. The Outlaws went down in the first round to a 9-7 Chattanooga Express team that barely edged them out 37-34. The Whalers made it further into the playoffs than the Outlaws and lost to a tougher 12-4 team but they did lose by a bigger margin. The Biggest shock of all is that the Storm scored 86 points on them. Florida did show signs of collapsing the previous week against the Griffins.
Omega Conference This one was no big shocker as the stingy Atlantic City defense tightened up and only allowed 38 points. The Offense was also running all cylanders as they dropped 85 points on the Stampede. Many crittics thought this would be a much tighter game.
Alpha Omega Bowl Predictions This should be no contest The Atlantic City Defense should be make the difference here in this matchup. The Gamblers have only allowed 55 points in there last 2 matchups. Plus the Gamblers embarrased the Storm in there own house 70-51 in week 13 of the regular season. Florida who lost to the Storm this past week barely got the win against Gamblers. Both these teams are evenly matched The Gamblers only allowed 669 points in the season and the Storm only allowed 668 points. Offensively though the Gamblers scored over 1,000 points. While the Storm scored 795 points for the regular season and the Storm won 1 game less than the gamblers. The Gamblers a slightly tougher schedule of the 2 teams. But in the post season the Gamblers have the more impressive wins. The Storm did face tougher opponents but crittis still believe that the Gamblers have the edge because of there offensive production. Alpha Omega Bowl The Gamblers owned the first Quarter as they took 21-14 lead when they capitalized on an interception deep in Storm Territory and quickly scored a Touchdown just before the first Quarter ended. Just before Halftime the Storm pulled within 1 point 27-28 was the score at the half. Both teams struggled to move the ball despite what the score had indicated in the first half. There was 8 sacks in the first half alone and each team threw 1 interception. In the 2nd Half The Long Beach Storm struck first with a touchdown and they made the Gambler defense look mediocre. But then the Gamblers did the samething to the Storm by scoring on a 85 yard td run to once again be up by 1 point 34-35.
Just before the 3rd quarter ended The Storm took a 44 - 35 lead. The mighty Gambler defense looked like it was collapsing but then the Gambler Special Teams came to the rescue as the Gamblers returned the kick off for a Touchdown to get within 4 points. The Storm we're the only team to rush for over 200 yards against this defense. But still failed on plenty of 3 and short situations.
The Long Beach Storm got a turnover that would help them stretch that lead 54-42 just before the start of the 4th Quarter. The Storm outscored the Gamblers in the 3rd Quarter 27-14 and it got worse because the Gamblers got instercepted deep in there own territory on there first possession in the 4th Quarter. The Gambler defense forced them to kick the field goal and the Storm missed the field goal with just over 6 minutes remaining.
The Gamblers scored quickly on there next possession and converted on the 2 point attempt to pull within 4. with just over 4 minutes remaing the Gamblers intercepted the Ball but we're held to a field goal to pull within 1 point. The Storm got the ball back with 1:46 remaining and held on to win thanks to a critical facemask penalty that woulda forced the Storm to punt the ball away. The Storm scored another touchdown for good measure with 13 seconds remaining. The Storm win there 2nd Alpha Omega Bowl and no one expected them to make it to the playoffs before the season started.
